About Honey Farm Starter

The time of this writing marks the start of our journey to build a honey farm at our existing plantation. That’s right, we’re absolute novices when it comes to beekeeping! We’re also determined to push things through. Having our farmer extraordinaire and brother-in-law, Bryan, guide us through the process certainly helps.

Beginners empathize with beginners. We understand where you’re coming from and we’re not weighed down by the curse of knowledge. (A bias where experts assume you know more than you actually know.) And, forgive the impending cliche but, if we can, then you sure can, too.

By documenting our research, struggles, and successes, we hope for this site to be the easiest to understand resource on honey farms, bee farms, and beekeeping for beginners!

About Us

My name is Dan and I will be joined by Deanne on Honey Farm Starter. We are a husband and wife team with businesses in tourism, real estate, food & beverage, and agriculture. Most of our ventures have been family businesses, and our roles on the backend, in accounting, finance, and business economics.

But beekeeping sounds too interesting to pass up and remain behind the scenes! It’s going to be a challenge, for sure. I mean, today is the first I’ve heard of apiary and apiculture.

We can’t wait to share our experiences in a way that’s understandable for the beginner. We’ll also mix in our expertise in finance and economics, with specific applications to the beekeeping business.
